Shirley Lee Huneycutt

May 31, 1935 — January 4, 2022


On Jan. 4, 2022 at age 86 Mrs. Shirley Lee McCraw Huneycutt of Hartsville, SC in the presence of her family released her soul to spend eternity with the Lord.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years
Rev. William Delano Huneycutt who passed 6 months prior. She also was preceded by her parents, Paul and Bessie Brown McCraw of Spartanburg, SC.
As well as her 4 siblings (Pauline, Lois, Doris and Claude McCraw), her daughter Linda Gay Huneycutt Lloyd Taylor and a great-grandson Master Justice Brumett.
Surviving are her daughters, Connie Huneycutt Hancock of Hartsville, SC and Susan Huneycutt (Steve) Wallace of Chesterfield,SC.
A granddaughter, who was as close as a daughter, Veronica Lloyd (Michael) Hayden of Hartsville, SC. Grandchildren; Marty Huneycutt, Megan Hancock, Jim Hancock, Clairessa Brumett, Christina Brumett, and Cliston Brumett. As well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Shirley attended Mars Hill University in NC for 2 years where she stopped her career to become the wife of Preacher Huneycutt and was an active member in Sunbeams, Girl’s Auxiliary, Women’s Missionary Union, and a Sunday School teacher in several Baptist Churches throughout NC and SC. Upon moving to Hartsville, SC she worked at Coker’s Department Store for 4 years before beginning her 20 year career at The People’s Bank in Hartsville, SC as a new accounts officer. After retiring Shirley worked part-time as a substitute teacher for Emmanuel Christian School and schools throughout Darlington County. As well as a secretary for Clanton’s Auto Auction in Darlington, SC.
Shirley spent her free time doing things she loved; antique shopping, yard work, growing flowers, swimming in her pool, throwing birthday celebrations for grandchildren, and vacationing at the beach with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Shirley was a cut-up, a prankster, a silly lady, who loved life and loved to make others laugh.

Shirley lived a full and blessed life and will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Graveside services will be held 2:00pm Saturday at Ruby Cemetery.  Rev. Hazel Mixon will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home.  Visitation will follow the services at the graveside.
