Peggy Hall Dixon

Hartsville, S.C.

Mrs. Peggy Evangeline Hall Dixon passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at National Health Care Parklane in Columbia, S.C.  A private graveside service will be held at Darlington Memory Gardens at a later date directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dixon was born July 5, 1931 in Hartsville and was a daughter of the late Lucius Zimmerman and Modena Russell Hall.

She was very active in the churches she attended in Hartsville, Florence and Columbia. She was a Sunday School Teacher and worked with the Baptist Young Women. She loved gardening, reading and going to the beach and mountains with her family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Griggs of Lugoff and Cheryl Flynn (Dan) of Columbia; four grandchildren, Stephen W. Griggs, Jr. (Danielle) of Bluffton and Bradley Lee Griggs (Rachel) of Greenwood, Kimber Flynn of Charlotte, N.C. and Chris McGinn (Matt) of Indian Land; five great grandchildren, Christopher Birt of Bluffton, Caroline Griggs of Raleigh, Lauren Griggs of Greenwood, Caedmon and Jude McGinn of Indian Land; and one great, great-granddaughter, Audriana Strond. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Ballard of Sumter, her sister-in-law Shelby Martin of Gainesville, Georgia and her brother-in-law, Fred Dixon, of Gainesville, Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Dixon, one son, Larry Bruce Dixon, her son-in-law Stephen W. Griggs; her sisters Jo Gandy and Odessa Mathis and her brothers, Lucius Zimmerman Hall, Jr., Ravenel Hall, and Ed Hall.

The family wants to express their gratitude to the staff of NHC for their loving care given to our mother.
