Ervin Lee Stokes

Hartsville, S.C.

Mr. Ervin Lee Stokes, age 90, went to his heavenly home on February 10, 2021. He was born in Hartsville, South Carolina on October 12, 1930 the son of the late Gary Arthur Stokes and Lula (Oneal) Stokes. He was a member of New Providence Baptist church where he served in many capacities throughout his life time. He cherished his church friends and his family. He spent many hours harvesting  his pecans and farming his land. He retired after 43 years of dedicated service to Sonoco Products Company.

Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Adams) Stokes; four children, Renee (Stokes) Teal, Kathy Stokes, Dennis Stokes and Mark Stokes of Hartsville; three grandchildren, Shawn Teal, Florence, Brad (Sonya) Teal and Blake Stokes, all of Hartsville. He was affectionately known as “ Pepaw “ by his three great grandchildren, Savannah, Jenna and Charlie Teal all of McBee, S.C. and two step great grandchildren, Madison White and Landon Robinson both of Hartsville, S.C. He is also survived by his sister, Sara Stokes Brown, Hartsville and many nieces and nephews that he loved. Mr. Stokes is preceded in death by his son, Michael L. Stokes and a brother, Leon T. Stokes.

A private service for the family will be held later. The family request there by no visitors at the residence due to Covid 19. They also thank you for your understanding and prayers. Friends may pay their respect by viewing Mr. Stokes and signing the register book on Friday from 2-4 pm at Norton Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their deep graditude to Agape Hospice of South Carolina for his comfort and care.
