Woodrow D. Hankins

     With heavy hearts, we regretfully announce the passing of Mr. Woodrow Douglas “Woody” Hankins. Woody passed away on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, at the age of 56.

     Mr. Hankins was a son of Diane Oswald and the late, John Hankins. Woody was truly the life of the party. He was always the biggest and funniest character in the room. Being a lover of fishing, he always had a fishing pole handy and his swim trunks on, regardless of the season. A “no fishing sign” meant nothing to him. If there was water with fish in it, he was going to fish. Although he loved the outdoors, his first and foremost love was his family, who he loved beyond measure. Woody was a welder and traveled all over, so he had a large, extended brotherhood and sisterhood that will miss him immensely. His impact was unforgettable.

     Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife, Carmen Hankins; children: Caitlin (Brandon) Mayo, Michael (Ashley) Skinner, Matthew (Scarlett) Brown, Ethan Hankins, and Kayleigh Brown; grandchildren: Brandy, Oaklynn, Oliver, Magnolia, Adelaide, Tuesdaye, and 2 more due in 2026. Also surviving is his step-mother, Violet Hankins; and a brother, John (Alicia) Hankins.

     His Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at 3 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, February 8th, 2026, from the Hartsville Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.  The family will speak with friends following the service at the funeral home.  If you are unable to attend his service in person, it can be viewed through Facebook Live by visiting the Norton Funeral Home & Crematory FB page.  The service will go live at 3 PM.
