Celebrating the Homegoing of Winnie “Mae” Johnson Hatchell age 95. Services will be held 3:00pm Sunday at Eastside Holiness Church. Rev. Trae Smoak and Rev. Brent Thigpen will officiate. Burial will be in Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation of Remembrance will be held Saturday afternoon 5:00-7:00pm at Norton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hatchell was born November 10, 1927 in Hartsville, SC. She was the daughter of Nancy Strickland Johnson and English Sam Johnson. She labored for the Kingdom of God first and foremost, she was a mighty prayer warrior.
In her earlier years she worked at Nitronics in Darlington, SC until it closed. She worked at Mafco in McBee until her husband became ill and she had to take care of him until his passing. After working in the public sector she became a dedicated Labor for Eastside Holiness Church helping with church events. She loved her church family and they so loved her.
Left to Cherish her memory are a son, William “Buddy” Hatchell (Jamie); daughter, Shelia Hatchell Hicks (Larry, Sr.); brother, Rev. Sam Johnson; grandchildren, Eddie Wallace, Larry Hicks, Jr. Angel (Jason) Gainey, Tammy (Brian) Conover Patterson, Fran Flood, Alton “Bo” Lane; great grandchildren, Madison and Reid Gainey, Corey Conover, Sydnee Mosher Hicks, Jaxon and Leiah Hicks, Colton Hicks, Austin and Jacob Hicks, Gabriel and Tessa Hatchell, Zack Lee Hatchell, Chrissy Flood Bouchette, BJ Flood, Jake, Cheyenne and Tim Lane; very special niece and nephews, Melva and Grady O’Neal, Tim Stewart
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hatchell, her parents, five sisters and four brothers, daughters, Faye Hatchell, Connie Hatchell Lane, grandsons, William Hatchell, Jr. and Casey Conover.
The family would like to give special thanks to Cora Lee Dial and Elaine Futrell for their help during Mrs. Hatchell’s illness, also to Eastside Holiness Church family and Greenhill Church for the food, prayers and visits.
