Vonzeale Jones Freeman

Society Hill, SC

     Mrs. Vonzeale Jones Freeman, 86, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday evening, March 5th, 2026, while surrounded by her family.

     Mrs. Freeman was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Carl David and Vermele Jones. Vonzeale was a devoted member of Harris Creek Baptist Church for 50+ years, serving numerous roles within the church. She retired from J.P. Stevens with over 40 years of service. The family will always have fond memories of her during the holidays, for Sunday lunch, and going shopping. Vonzeale would do anything she could to help someone out.

     Surviving is her sister, Frances (Heyward) Walters; grandchildren, Carley (Maxwell) Davenport and Chandler (Kendell) Tolson; great-grandchildren: Ella Tolson, Camryn Tolson, Troy Tolson, Delilah Davenport, and Ellison Davenport. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, who took very compassionate care of her.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Delmas Freeman; siblings: Dick Jones, Houston Jones, and Cecil Jones.

     Her funeral service will be conducted at 3 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, March 8th, 2026, from Harris Creek Baptist Church. Reverend Corey Byrd and Reverend Ricky Cox will officiate with a committal following in the church cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
