On the morning of June 13, 2024, Virginia “Ginny” Carol Landon passed away at the age of 86. She was born in Mt. Tabor, Vermont to Cecil Claude Landon and Emma Geraldine Merrow.
As a child, Ginny’s father gave her the nickname “Ridge runner,” which she took to heart throughout her entire life. There was little Ginny loved more than nature and the mountains. If she could have run away to live among the trees and peaks, she happily would have. But the next best thing to Ginny was her flower beds, which is where she could often be found even after working all day among plants at Black Fox Farms/Varnell Nursery, where she worked from 1992-2017. It is a bit of an understatement to say she had a green thumb. But, if she couldn’t be found in nature or in her flower beds, she was probably perusing the shelves of the local library, diving headfirst into an adventure on the page.
Virginia was predeceased by her husbands, Bernard Morris Alberico, Frank Roger Veilleux, and George Richard Mizelle. She was also predeceased by her parents and her sister Lorraine Landon Young, along with her brothers, Phil Cecil Landon and William Clyde Landon. As well as a son, Bernard Morris Veilleux and daughter-in-law Cindy Edenfield Veilleux.
She is survived by brother Richard Landon, sister-in-law (and close friend) Liz Landon, daughters Sandy Braddock and husband Phillip, Barbara Veilleux, sons Donald Veilleux and wife Violet, Mark Veilleux and wife Judi, and Gregory Veilleux. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend of 64 years, Joyce Shafer Emery. She will be missed and remembered. But the mountains were calling, and she had to go.
Norton Funeral Home and Crematory are honored to be of service to the Landon family.
