Funeral services for Thomas DeLeon (Tommy) Garrett, Sr. age 77, will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the Lakeview Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Hughes and Rev. Buddy Amerson will officiate. Burial will be in the Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery in Bishopville directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Anyone who would like to pay their respect and sign the register book on Friday may do so between 2:30 – 4:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
Tommy was born in Bishopville a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Eula Andrews Garrett. He was retired from Sonoco Products Company after 40 years of service, was a member of the Old timers Club and the Gamecock Club where he was honored as Gamecock of the Year by the Darlington County Gamecock Club. He was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church and the Bible Blazers Sunday School Class. He loved to work in his yard and was previous owner of Tommy’s Golf Carts where he was known by his customers as “ Mr.Tommy “. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Polson Garrett, Hartsville; two daughters, Tammy (Richie) Dean, Bishopville and Teri (Chris) Arthur, Prosperity, S.C.; one son, Len (Kellie) Garrett, Surfside Beach; One stepson, Jackie (Annette) O’Tuel, Hartsville; two stepdaughters, Cindy (Howard) Jones, Hartsville and Lisa Williamson, Hartsville; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Watkins Garrett; brother, Jerry Garrett and a sister, Judy Sylvester.
