Tanya Terrell McDonald

Tanya McDonald passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Hartsville on May 6, 1954. She lived a life marked by kindness and deep devotion to those she held dear.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Tanya cherished her family above all else. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcomed and loved. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and unwavering love.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ronnie; daughter Barbi (Jason) Bassham of College Station, TX; daughter Jennifer (Trent) Altman of Florence; four grandchildren: Kyler and Aiden Altman; Henry and Calvin Bassham; sisters Martha Bryant and Kathy (Rodney) McFarland of Hartsville; brother Mark (Jan) Terrell of Myrtle Beach; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins who she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents Ross and Glenda Terrell, and brother-in-law Allen Bryant.

Tanya was a member of West Hartsville Baptist Church and raised her children to walk in His light. “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” 3 John 1:4.

Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, big heart, and the way she made every person she met feel valued. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her impact will live on in the hearts of all who love her.

Services will be held 2:00pm Sunday, March 8th, 2026 from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.  Rev. Kevin Walters will officiate.  Visitation will follow the services at the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her honor to West Hartsville Baptist Church.
