Tammy Renee Shaw (Priest), beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina. Born on March 29, 1966, in Columbia, South Carolina, Tammy's life was a testament to love, devotion, and kindness.
Tammy had a heart that beat passionately for the creatures she so dearly loved. Her compassion extended beyond animals to the people closest to her—family and friends who were the center of her world.
She was preceded in death by her father, J.T. Shaw, and her brothers, Jay Shaw, Jamie Shaw.
Tammy’s enduring legacy is carried on by her mother, Janice Gainey Shaw of Hartsville. She leaves behind her siblings: Susan Shaw Poole and her husband Jeff of Hartsville, Michael Shaw and his wife Tammy also of Hartsville, and Annette Shaw, also of Hartsville. Her family expanded through her cherished nieces and nephews: Lisa Poole, Jessica Shaw McCall, Katie Anderson, Taylor Blackwell, April Shaw, Savannah Caulder, Yasmine Bristow, Leah Benjamin, Vance Poole, Cade Poole, Jeffrey Poole, Gage Caulder, Waylon Caulder, Cody Shaw, Corey Shaw, Jay McCall, Myles McCall, Maleek McCall and Demaine Benjamin, Mellanna Jones, Mia Tyner, Joseph Hill. Tammy’s influence and love were also experienced by numerous great nieces and great nephews, who were fortunate to know her gentle spirit
Her love and loyalty to her family and friends, her dedication to her faith, and her affection for all living creatures paint a portrait of a woman who truly lived to give love and light to others. Tammy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her and will forever remain in their hearts.
Graveside services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Magnolia Cemetery. Pastor Kitral Benton will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home. The family will speak to friends following the services at the graveside. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at Tammy's mothers' home, 325 Marcus Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550.
The family has asked for donations be made to Norton Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
