Mrs. Sylvia Prosser Stokes age 83, went to her Heavenly Home on July 3. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday July 6 at 11:00 am at the Community Bible Church. Rev. Jerry Peacock will officiate. Burial will be in the Community Bible Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home Bishopville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at her residence 6111 Red Hill Road, Camden, S.C.
Mrs. Stokes was born in Lake City, S.C. a daughter of the late Luther McDonald Prosser and Bessie Rodgers Prosser. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. Miss Sylvia was known for her faithfulness to her husband of 46 years. She lived for the love of her children and grandchildren. She loved her church family and singing in the choir. Her laugh was contagious and we know she is singing and laughing now in heaven. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Even when her mind betrayed her, she still showed love and recognition to those she held most dear. She will live on in them and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mrs. Stokes is survived by one daughter, Cissy (Jerry) Price of Bishopville; one son, Terry Stokes, Bishopville; three grandchildren, Dillon Price, Katie Stropes and Regina Tidwell; three great grandchildren, Addison Tidwell, David Tidwell and Patrick Stokes; two sisters, Bessie Yates, Lake City and Violet McKenzie, Lake City. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Olin Laverne Stokes who passed away in 2009; her siblings, Joseph Franklin (Bobby) Prosser, Willie Joe Prosser, Kathleen Prosser, Fanny Rose Browder and Dolly Foxworth.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Elaine and Jim Jeko and their children and to the Amedisys Hospice of Sumter for their loving care of Mrs. Stokes
Norton Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Stokes family.
