Sherry was born in Harrisonburg, VA and was raised in the Shenandoah Valley area of Grottoes and Weyers Cave, VA.  She received Jesus as her Savior after reading a gospel tract she received at a local county fair and loved to place or give tracts whenever given the opportunity.  Upon becoming a Christian as a young teen, Sherry actively witnessed to her older sister and parents and they too came to know Jesus as their personal Savior.  Sherry graduated from Bob Jones University with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education.  She met her husband Richard in Miami, FL while teaching at Westwood Christian High School and they married almost 42 years ago.  Sherry and Richard resided in the Raleigh and Atlanta areas until relocating to the Columbia, SC area.  They moved to Hartsville to be closer to family after Richard’s retirement.  Sherry was an active member of several churches during her lifetime and thoroughly enjoyed using her considerable sewing, crafts, and organizing skills in support of local church ministries.

Surviving are her husband Richard, her son Mark Provencher, her daughter Dawn (Thomas) Aldridge, her sister Janice (Ron) Gatlin, her niece Joy (Mark) Hancock, granddaughters Amber and Allison Baker, and step-granddaughters Chloe and Caylin Aldridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlon and Marie Hottinger and her nieces, Rhonda and Rachel Gatlin.

I Cor 5:8 - But we are confident and would much prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
