Murrells Inlet, S.C.
It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Sharon Elizabeth Yow Turner, formerly of Hartsville, on February 15, 2026, at the young age of 48. Sharon went home to be with the Lord following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She passed at Conway Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born on November 10, 1977, in Florence, S.C., to James Edward Yow and the late Doris Holley Yow. She was raised in Hartsville and attended Thornwell Elementary School, Hartsville Middle School, and Hartsville High School. She later furthered her education by earning her nursing degree from Francis Marion University.
Sharon worked in nursing for several years before relocating to Murrells Inlet in 2011 to be closer to her brother. There, she worked in office administration, hospitality, and food service.
Sharon was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church before joining Garden City Baptist Church after moving to Murrells Inlet. She was actively involved in her Women’s Life Group and was an inspiration to many women, offering unconditional love, encouragement, and her time to help others rebuild their lives.
Sharon was preceded in death by her loving mother, Doris Holley Yow, as well as her grandparents and uncles.
She is survived by her son and the light of her life, Aiden Turner; her father, James Yow, and stepmother, Delene; brother, Chris Yow, and sister-in-law, Tanya; sister and best friend since first grade, Faith Welsh, and her husband, Chris; stepsister, Kelli Cross, and husband, Billy; nephew, Justin Thomas, and wife, Grace; nieces, Laney Cross and Jaxson Welsh; along with several aunts and cousins whom she deeply loved.
Sharon will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering faith. Above all, she was a devoted mother whose greatest joy was her son, Aiden. She was a loving daughter, a fiercely loyal sister, and a cherished friend who gave freely of her heart. Sharon had a rare gift for making others feel seen and valued, and her kindness left a lasting mark on everyone she met. Though her time on earth was far too short, her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will live on through her family and all whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home Chapel in Hartsville, with Rev. John Helms and Rev. Richie Yow officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Norton Funeral Home & Crematory in Hartsville is honored to serve the Yow and Turner family.
