It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Sallie Gertrude Tyner Byrd. Mrs. Byrd age 75 went to her heavenly home on November 15 while at her residence with her loving family by her side.  

Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 19 at 11:00 am at Norton Funeral Home Chapel in Hartsville. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Danny Malloy will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7pm at the funeral home and at other times at 562 J.E. Talbert Road, Patrick, S.C.

Mrs. Byrd was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late James Everette Tyner and Virginia Griggs Tyner. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Dennis Byrd, Patrick; two daughters, Beverly (Joe) Player, Patrick and Vonda (Josh) Riley, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Joseph (Samantha) Player, Chase Player, Lacy White, Olivia (Landon) Peters, Avery (Rebecca) White, Charlie Riley, Colt Riley and Case Riley; eight great grandchildren; five brothers, Jessie (Lib) Tyner, Patrick, Olivie Tyner, Patrick, Jimmy (Bonnie) Tyner, Summerville, Toby (Darlene) Tyner, Society Hill and Danny (Donna) Tyner, Lugoff; two sisters, Roberta (Jimmy) Howle, Hartsville and Carol Ann (Russell) Young, Patrick;

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Byrd and a brother, Kenneth Tyner.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Gentiva Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Mrs. Byrd.
