Russell Fairbanks

Russell Fairbanks, a longtime resident of Hartsville, South Carolina, passed away leaving behind a life marked by independence, loyalty, and a passion for the things he loved most.

Born in Asheville, North Carolina, Russell carried his mountain roots with him wherever he went. For the past 12 years, he made his home in Hartsville, where he built strong friendships and became a familiar face to many. Though life took him far from where he began, he found community and connection here.

Russell had a deep appreciation for old cars and guns. He loved the craftsmanship, history, and stories behind them. Whether he was talking about a classic engine or admiring a well-made firearm, those who knew him understood that these weren’t just hobbies — they were part of who he was. He enjoyed sharing that passion with friends and could spend hours in conversation about restoration projects, mechanics, and the details others might overlook.

He is survived by his mother Helen Fairbanks and brother Aaron Fairbanks. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Fairbanks and his brother, Sean Fairbanks.

In Hartsville, Russell formed meaningful friendships that became an important part of his life, including Jamie Stephens, Ryne Gainey, Terry Johnson Jr, Brian Hoffman, and many others. These bonds reflected the loyalty and camaraderie he valued deeply.

Russell will be remembered by those who truly knew him for his strong spirit, his love of classic cars, and the friendships he built over the years. His presence will be missed by the many friends who shared in his passions and his time.
