Rugenia Poston

     It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of Mrs. Rugenia “Dena” Poston, better known by most as “Nana.” Nana went to be with The Lord on Wednesday evening, September 9th, 2026, while at home with her family. She was 85 years old.

     Born in Johnsonville, Mrs. Poston was a daughter of the late Rull and Jessie McAlister Prosser. Without a doubt, Dena was the Atlanta Brave’s number one fan! She also loved purple and was a huge Christmas and Santa Clause fan. Nana was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church, a church she dearly loved.

     Surviving to cherish her memory are her children: Shelia (Scott) Spivey, Buffie (John) Minshew, Kristie (Chris Carnell) Hayes; grandchildren: Benji Spivey, Garrett (Skylar) Spivey, Haley (Cole) Beasley, Hunter Minshew, Parker (fiancé, Carmen Huggins) Hayes, Emily (Cole Hybarger) Hayes; great-grandchildren: Charlie Spivey, Ameche Spivey, Maverick Spivey, Lydia Purvis, and Lucy Hayes.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Mabel Prosser.

     Due to her love of purple, the family invites you to wear that color to her service which will be conducted at 11 o’clock on Saturday morning, September 12th, 2026, from Bethlehem Methodist Church. Reverend Billy Jack Johnson will officiate, with a committal following in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening, September 11th, 2026, from 5-7 at Norton Funeral Home. The family also invites friends to visit with them at the home of Shelia and Scott Spivey – 905 Huntington Dr., Hartsville.
