Roy Fate Winburn, Jr.

    With heavy hearts, but with gratefulness to God, we announce the passing of Roy Fate Winburn, Jr. Roy, a true servant to his family and friends, went home to be with his Lord and rejoin his family on Tuesday morning, June 17th, 2025, at the age of 85.

    Mr. Winburn was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Roy Fate, Sr. & Inez Watford Winburn. Following his high school graduation, Roy enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a Medic for 20 years. He then worked as a serviceman in the Washer and Dryer Repair Business until retirement.

    Surviving is his brother and sister-in-law, Danny & Marilyn Winburn; grandchildren, Kristen (Brian) and Courtney; daughter-in-law, Lauri Winburn; sister-in-law, Geraldine Winburn; special friend and “other son,” Wendell Davis. Also surviving are several other family members.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mae Scruggs Winburn; children, Sherri Lynn Winburn and Roy Marion Winburn; and a brother, Jimmy Winburn.

    His funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 on Thursday morning, June 19th, 2025, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Winburn officiating. The family will speak with friends following the service at the chapel. Roy’s body will be privately laid to rest beside his wife and daughter at the New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Roy’s life can be summed up in one word – servant.
