Richard Charles Putnam

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Richard Charles Putnam on July 29, 2026 while at McLeod RMC.

Richard was born in Hartsville a son of the late Donald David Putnam, Sr. and Mary Etta Langston Putnam. He loved the Carolina Gamecocks, loved gardening and had a green thumb for anything that he grew. He loved to eat guacamole and a cherry Doctor Pepper. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy having served in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by one son, Wallace Hess Putnam, Hartsville; four grandchildren, Taylor Putnam, Emmot Putnam, Madison Putnam and Scarlet Putnam; three great grandchildren; one Aunt, Margaret Clark, Concord, N.C.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald David Putnam, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 4, 2026 at 11:00 in the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Reverend Joey Colson officiating. Burial will be in the Florence National Cemetery at 1:00pm.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
