Mr. Richard Elliott McCoy age 81 formally of McBee, passed away January 7, at McLeod RMC. Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 11 at 3:00 pm at the Union United Methodist Church. Rev. Paige Wheeler and Rev. Charlie Short will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. McCoy was born in McBee a son of the late Lucious Henry McCoy and Vivian McQuage McCoy. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church and a member of the Alligator Fire Department No. 3 for 30 plus years and a member of the Board. He retired from Santee Print Works. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Florida, the Beach and the Mountains. He loved to plant trees, work on lawn mowers and loved horses. He loved to work and he did a lot of work after dark.
Surviving is his wife, Dianne Tiller McCoy, Summerton; two daughters, Tammy (Henry) Johnson, McBee and Drinda (Jim) Couillard, Columbia; one step daughter, Angela (Kevin) Rickard, Sumter; one step son, Jason Boykin, Bethune; three grandchildren, Katherine (Mark) Segal, Columbia, Jessica Withrow, Columbia and Dustin Gainey, McBee; five step grandchildren, Kalrissa Hart, Ali Boykin, Jayden Boykin, Baileigh Rickard, Harrison Rickard and Scarlett Couillard; six great grandchildren, Tyler Beasley, Conner Beasley, Chandler Stokes, Kirsten Stokes, Bailey and Maci; two brothers, Leon McCoy and George McCoy, both of McBee; three sisters, Sheryl Mitchell, McBee, Joanne (William) Turner, Chapin and Carol Guest, McBee.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bennie McCoy and a granddaughter, Sherry Gainey; 2 sister in laws, Lou Doris McCoy, Patricia McCoy.
