Patricia (Patsy) Watkins Douglas McCullough 7/29/39 – 6/20/24

Patsy Watkins Douglas McCullough, 84, passed away Thursday morning after an extended illness. Services will be directed by Norton Funeral Home, with visitation being held on Friday June 21st from 5:00–7:00 pm at Norton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday June 22, 2024 at New Market United Methodist Church. Pastors Corinthia Mack and Dr. Greg Boyd will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery directly following the service.

Patsy was born in Hartsville, the daughter of the late James Edward Watkins and Annie Laurie Ryon Watkins Cromartie. She was a 1957 graduate of Hartsville High School. She retired from Coker College after 12 years of service as an executive secretary. Patsy was an active member of New Market United Methodist church for many years where she taught children’s Sunday school classes. She was the perfect example of a Southern lady (a Great Mother, Wife and Mema to all of her grandchildren and countless others). 

Surviving are her husband of ten years, Joseph Henry McCullough, Jr. of Hartsville, SC; three sons, Richard Lee Douglas, James Donald (Tammy) Douglas and Jody Watkins (Renee) Douglas all of Hartsville; Four grandchildren, Amber Douglas (D) Brown, Blake Douglas, Ashley Douglas (Robert) McIntyre, all of Hartsville, SC and Dr. Jayme Douglas of Atlanta, GA; seven great grandchildren; one brother, William Angus Watkins, Bishopville, SC; one sister in law, Ann Cromartie (Randy) Larrimore, Brittons Neck, S.C.; two step daughters, Sharon McCullough (Doug) MacRae, Raleigh, NC, Susan McCullough (Bryan) Black, Summerville, SC; six step grandsons; one step great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 47 years, James Lee Douglas; two brothers, Jimmy Watkins and Fred Cromartie; one grandson, James Ryon Douglas, all of Hartsville, SC and two sisters-in-law, Betty Watkins, Hartsville, SC and Judith Watkins, Bishopville, SC.

The family would like to thank the staffs of The Legacy of Hartsville and Crescent Hospice for their excellent care. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers
