Mrs. Bettie Thomas

Hartsville, SC

Mrs. Bettie Jean Small Thomas passed away on December 24, 2017. She was born February 19, 1939 in Lancaster, SC. She was the daughter of the late Forest and Evelyn Deese Small. Bettie resided in Eutawville, SC most of her adult life.

Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Gerald "Thom" Thomas and her son Jerry Benton Thomas. She is survived by her daughter Rachel Thomas Stacey and son in law Scott Stacey of Hartsville SC, grandsons Barrett Thomas Stacey, Ryan Stacey, Chad Stacey and Britt Tomlinson, a special nephew Jake Thomas (Melissa),  her faithful companion poodle Sissy, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Bettie was a retired educator. She was a graduate of The University of Hawaii and received her Masters Degree in Special Education from The Citadel in Charleston, SCBettie was an avid traveler and enjoyed sharing her travels with family and friends. Bettie was also a lover of books and reading.

Graveside services will be held at The National Cemetery in Florence, SC  on at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017.  Bettie will be laid to rest beside her late husband Gerald who was retired from the US Navy.
