Mr. Robert Privette

Funeral services for Robert Barney (Bubba) Privette, age 91 will be held Sunday at 3:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. John Hamilton and Dr. Ernest Winburn will officiate. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Privette was born in Darlington County, November 26, 1925 a son of the late Barney Privette and Bonnie Culpepper Privette. He departed this life on July 20, 2017 at the age of 91.

He attended school in Hartsville, S.C., was a US Army Veteran, have served in Company “ E “ of the 331st infantry. He was in combat in WWII during the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944 and January of 1945. He was a member of The Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Living Hope Sunday School Class. Most of his working life he was an over the road truck driver for Sonoco Products Company. He drove 3,000,000 safe miles while employed by Sonoco. He enjoyed growing vegetables in his back yard garden and his large family.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn Galloway Privette, Hartsville; four sons, Robert (Valerie) Privette , Chapin, S.C., James (Jane) Privette, Hartsville, S.C., Marvin (Cathy) Privette, Florence, S.C. and Gary Privette, Hartsville, S.C.; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grands; two sisters, Eunice (Kenneth) McElveen, Hartsville, S.C. and Joyce Craven, Cary, N.C. He was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Hope Privette and a sister Margaret Brewington.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Caregivers of Comfort Keepers for their dedicated service during his illness.
