Mr. Michael Eugene Howell age 71, passed away December 30 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 5 at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Jamie St. Ours will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday January 4 from 5-7 pm at Norton Funeral Home.

Michael was born in Langdale, AL a son of Margaret Ann Ammons and the late Benjamin Howell.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing the guitar and singing, a great cook and became a true Italian at heart. He loved watching Nascar, basketball, and football, especially Carolina Gamecocks and the Carolina Panthers. But most of all he loved spending time with family, his grands, great grands, wife and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
 
He joined the US Navy and worked on a ship as an Aviation Electrician, serving in the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged with multiple metals. From there he went on to college to further his career which lead him to becoming a teacher at a local technical college, and ending his career at ESAB where he was awarded in Germany for a program he wrote.
 
Surviving are his wife, Madeline (Vause) Howell; His mother Ann Ammons; his brother and sister in law; Benjamin and Pat Howell; his son and daughter in law, James & Marleny Manolias; his daughter, Amanda Manolias; Grandchildren. Mikaylah Wingate and Michael Teal, Markus Manolias, Angelena Deason, Gabriela Monolias, Alek Deason, Jordan Deason and Leilani Manolias; great grandchildren, Giovanni Teal and Liam Teal.
 
He was preceded in death by his father listed above.
