Matthew Byrd Parker

Matthew Byrd Parker, age 42, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 6, 2025, at Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Matt passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind two wonderful children, Elliott and Colton, and their mother, Heidi McKenzie Parker. Surviving family members include his father Von Parker and mother Linda Parker of Hartsville, a brother Brett (wife - Candace) Parker of Hartsville, SC and Genie (husband - Scott) Brown of Baldwin, GA. His nieces and nephews include Nathan and Nolan Brown, and Jameson Parker. He also leaves behind a fiancé, Laura Duc and children Ruthie, Helen, and Duc.

Matt was born and raised in Hartsville, SC. He graduated from Hartsville High School in 2000. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Charleston and successfully established and operated Rain or Shine Irrigation and Landscape Lighting Professionals. He also began a twenty-year career working at Husk Restaurant in Charleston, SC. He continued working for Husk until he passed.

Matt loved his kids and lived to spend time with them. They were his whole world. He always told those around him how much they meant to him. Matt loved being outside, spending time with friends and family, cooking, music, and cheering for the Gamecocks. He always looked forward to attending NASCAR races with his friends. Matt will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Services of Remembrance will be held Friday, May 16, 2024 at 2:00pm from New Providence Baptist Church.  Rev. Cliff Leonard and Rev. Scott Brown will officiate.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Norton Funeral Home.

Matt loved the Lord and we rejoice in knowing he is in heaven. His favorite bible verse was Matthew 19:26, “But Jesus looked at them, and said with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
