Myra Sue Moody Northam, age 83 of Hartsville, formerly of Bennettsville, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House. At the time of her passing, Sue was holding the hand of her lifelong friend and cousin, Linda Hulsey of Hartsville. Her family and many friends will always love and admire Sue for her courageous twenty-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Sue was born in Bennettsville to the late Son and Hazel Moody. She graduated from Bennettsville High School and was a licensed cosmetologist for many years. A change of careers led her to Hotel Management. She was employed by Fairfield Hotel in Hartsville until her retirement. Sue’s favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends. She loved card-playing, shopping, and eating out.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Northam, and her beloved son, Lee Northam.

Sue is survived by her sister, Ellen Townsend; nephew, Will Townsend and niece Melanie Townsend, all of Bennettsville, and niece Elizabeth Kolb (Kenneth) of Irmo; great niece, Gracie Kolb; brothers in law, David (Betty Ann) Northam and Ervin Northam; numerous special family members and friends. Special thanks to her caregiver, “Sue 2.”

A memorial service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Sue’s honor to Bennettsville Second Baptist Church 422 State Street Bennettsville, SC 29512.
