Martha King Smith

Hartsville, SC – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Martha King Smith, who departed this life at the age of 90 on the morning of August 31, 2025, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center.

Born in Hartsville, SC, Mrs. Smith was the cherished daughter of the late Paul and Nancy Skipper King. A devoted member of Kelleytown Baptist Church, she found joy in nurturing and guiding the youth of her community, particularly in the Nursery Department, where she dedicated many years of service. Mrs. Smith had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid walker whenever her health permitted. Her life was marked by her kindness and selflessness; she was a caretaker at heart, consistently offering her support to others, including fellow residents during her time in the nursing home.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving children, Dempsey (Fran) Smith of Bluff City, TN, and Jimmy (Tami) Smith of Darlington, along with her daughter-in-law, Kathy Smith of Florence. She is also remembered by her brother, Tommy (Trish) King of Waysville, NC, her grandchildren Garrett Smith, Robert Smith, Jimmy (McQuitta) Smith, and Chad Smith, as well as several great grandchildren.. Additionally, she leaves behind her step-granddaughter, Leslie (Jason) Anazoline of Greenville.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Smith, her son, Randy Smith, and her step-grandson, Sean Carter.

A service of remembrance for Mrs. Smith will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Lin Kirkland, followed by burial at Westview Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to the visitation at Norton Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning.
