Mark Elton Collins

     It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of Mr. Mark Elton Collins. Mr. Collins passed away on Friday morning, September 11th, 2026, while at home with his family. He was 73 years old.

     Born in Hartsville, Mark was a son of the late William and Maenell Roach Collins. Mark enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family. Being a man of faith, following his father's passing in 1992, he assumed the roll of leadership to help lead Bethune Church of Christ. He would continue in this position until 2019. His family also recalls him enjoying grilling, and never having a dull moment when he was around.

     Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Driggers Collins; children: Mark Leroy “Lee” (Lisa) Collins, Sonia Collins, and Tonia (fiancé, Grant Blackwell) Collins; grandchildren: Ashley Stephens, Katelyn Watford, and Tiffany Stephens; siblings, Mickey (Janice) Collins and Kathy Collins.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Donald “Catfish” Collins, Ronald “Butter” Collins, Timothy “Curly” Collins, David “Doc” Lauren, and Clarence Wilson.

     His funeral service will be conducted at 3 o’clock on Monday afternoon, September 14th, 2026, from Bethune Church of Christ. Kenny Owens and Brent Bishop will officiate, with a committal following in Bethel Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
