Marion Leon Brown

Marion Leon Brown, a beloved figure in the Hartsville community and cherished family man, passed away peacefully at his home on August 15, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on May 5, 1941, in Hartsville, South Carolina, Marion’s life was marked by a deep love for his family and a strong commitment to his faith.

Leon had a fulfilling career, retiring from Sonoco Products Company, where he was honored for his dedicated service. A proud graduate of Hartsville High School. He was a devoted member of Forest Hills Independent Baptist Church.

A man of simple joys, Leon cherished moments spent outdoors. He loved deer hunting and found great pleasure in gardening, nurturing vegetables with the same care and dedication he showed his family. His home was often filled with laughter and the warmth of shared memories, as he created a legacy of love that will long be remembered.

Leon is survived by his loving sons, Ricky Brown and his wife Teresa of Fort Lawn, and Rodney (Rod) Brown of Hartsville. He is also remembered fondly by his grandchildren: Dale Brown his wife Tiffany of Hartsville, Taylor Thompson and her husband Cody of Lancaster, and Claire Snipes and her husband Dustin of Lancaster. As a doting great-grandfather, he leaves behind Hunter Brown, Aubrey Brown, Weston Thompson, Gracie Drue Thompson, and Eillie Snipes, who will always carry the love he had for them in their hearts.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Dawson Brown and Mary Polk Brown, his beloved wife Lyndal Brown, and his sons Christopher, Wendell, and Steve Brown. He also joins his siblings, who have gone before him, sharing stories and memories of their lives together.
