Marie Reynolds Gainey

Mrs. Marie Reynolds “Nanny” Gainey, 90, of Bethune, passed away Monday morning, November 6^th, 2023, while at McLeod Health of Florence. 

Mrs. Gainey was born in Timmonsville, but spent most of her life in Bethune.  She enjoyed working with plants and animals, but her true love was her grandchildren.  Mrs. Gainey was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed working in Children’s Church, where all the children referred to her as “Nanny.”   

Surviving are her children, Mary Minnehan of Hartsville and Neal (Missy) Gainey of Bethune; grandchildren: Tabitha Minnehan, Cannon Gainey, Michael Gainey, Bryceson Gainey; and nieces and nephews, which she loved dearly; also, her “grand-possum,” Heidi Gray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin & Annie Christmas Reynolds; husband, Claude Gainey and 6 siblings.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon, November 8^th, 2023, from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Reverend Rick Welch will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
