MAJOR DUVALL BULLARD

June 18, 1932 – September 26, 2020

Services for Major Duvall Bullard, 88, will be held on Tuesday, September 29th at 4:00 pm with visitation at 3:00 pm at the Middendorf Baptist Church directed by Norton Funeral Home.  Rev. Beau Boyle, Rev. Danny Holley, Rev. Don Rhyne will officiate.  Rev. Jerry McManus will assist at graveside.   Mr. Bullard died peaceful Saturday Morning at home with his family.  Born in Chesterfield County, SC he was the son of the late William Curtis and Mary Magdalean Linton Bullard.  He was a life-time member of Middendorf Baptist Church where he devoted over 65 years of service in leadership positions from Building and Grounds, Sunday School Director, Teacher, Moderator. After serving decades on Deacon Board was honored status of Life Deacon.  One of his greatest joys was leading the Church Choir.  Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to the Middendorf Baptist Church Building Fund to complete handicap ramp cover.  The family respectfully request masks due to social distancing with covid 19. (both masks and sanitizer will be provided).

Mr. Bullard retired from Sonoco after 36 years of service and was a member of the Old Timer’s Club and Masonic Lodge.   He was an Alligator Fire District Charter Member and served as Treasurer and Board Member for many years.   He attended Middendorf Elementary, McBee High, Chesterfield-Marlboro Tech (Cheraw)s, Palmer College and Midland Technical College (Columbia).  Joined the US Navy serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and his trusted companion Beau.

Surviving are his wife, Eloise Jones Bullard of 66 years, children Nancy (Ron) Shearer,  Marcus (Debbie) Bullard, John Leland (Rita) Bullard and Terretta (T-J) Vernarsky all of Hartsville, SC, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. Sisters Doris Atkinson of Hartsville and Ordelle Davis of Texas, Sister-in-laws Gail Bullard of Hartsville, Billie Linton of Kannapolis, NC and Brother-in-law Harold Branham of Columbia.  Preceded in death by his firstborn daughter Lorretta, great-granddaughter Sophia Gray, Brothers and Sisters Junior Linton, Rachel Branham, Charles Bullard, Jesse Bullard, Blease Bullard, Ina Hoffman and Ellen Tyner.

The family greatly appreciates the care given by the Kindred at Home Health Staff and the entire VA team.
