Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Peavy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away June 10, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. David Mullen will officiate. A private burial will be held later. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gene was the devoted husband of Deborah Peavy for 52 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. He is survived by his sons, Joey Peavy (Jennifer) and Brandon Peavy (Jessica); his sister, Daphine Peavy; and his cherished grandchildren, Cheyenne Peavy, Kayla Peavy, Abby Lear, Cayden James, Jaxon Peavy, and Emily Kate.

He was preceded in death by his parents Luther & Juanita Peavy; His brothers Jimmy & Steve Peavy; his beloved grandson, Caleb James; and his lifelong friend, Don Shumate.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews; Jay Peavy, Matthew Peavy, Will Peavy, Chucky Beasley, Michael Beasley, Devin Peavy, Macray Peavy, Nicholas Peavy and lifelong friends David Sessoms, Gary White, Howard Jackson and Donna Robertson.

Gene was a devoted Christian man whose faith guided his life. He was an avid supporter of the South Carolina Gamecocks and had a special love for red foxes. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle through the mountains making memories on countless trips over the years. Gene also loved reminiscing about his years serving with the Hartsville Police Department and the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, where he made many lifelong friendships and memories.

Above all else, Gene loved his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, loyalty, kindness, and unwavering love that will be treasured by all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 3224 Liberty Hill Road, Hartsville, SC.
