Judson Hawkins, Jr.

Judson Hawkins, Jr., a lifelong resident of Hartsville, South Carolina, passed away in late fall of 2025. Born on August 14, 1942, in Hartsville, he was a man of many talents and interests who left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Judson began his professional career with Sonoco Products Company, where he gained valuable experience working on outages with various companies. Later in life, he transitioned into a career in life insurance sales, demonstrating a commitment to helping others plan for the future. Throughout his work, Judson exhibited dedication and professionalism that earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Judson's passions extended beyond his career. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a skilled baseball player in his younger years. His love of sports was matched by his joy in participating in karaoke, a pastime he enjoyed both locally and at the beach. These activities brought him great happiness and allowed him to connect with his community in meaningful ways.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Judson Raymond Hawkins, Sr. and Inez Gardner Hawkins. Judson's legacy continues through his devoted family. He is survived by his children: Cindy Brittain (Allen) of Southport, North Carolina; Sheila Alexander of Bishopville; and Judson Hawkins, III (Tinker) of Hartsville. He also leaves behind treasured grandchildren Maranda Brittain Register (David) of Southport, NC; Morgan Brittain of Boiling Springs Lakes, NC; and Madalyn "Maddi" Brittain of Bolivia, NC. His five great-grandchildren also carry forward his memory and spirit.

A memorial service to honor the life of Judson Hawkins, Jr. will be held 4:00pm on April 17, 2026, at Norton Funeral Home And Crematory in Hartsville, located at 1414 West Carolina Avenue. Following the memorial, a visitation will take place at the funeral homes Chapel. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a man who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Judson Hawkins, Jr.'s life was marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community. His enduring love for music, sports, and family remains an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
