Joyce Isgett Newman

The following obituary is being shared by Norton Funeral Home as a courtesy to local family and friends.  All services have been entrusted to Powers Funeral Home of Lugoff. 

Joyce Isgett Newman, a faithful wife, devoted mother, passionate reader, and good cook, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026. Born on March 6, 1950, in Hartsville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Wilson Isgett and Margaret Jordan Isgett. Joyce lived a life defined by her unwavering kindness, her commitment to her community, and her love for her family. She retired from Lugoff-Elgin High School where she was the manager of the cafeteria.

Joyce was a faithful member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church, where she actively participated in the WMU's and Waders. Her faith was a guiding light in her life and provided her with a sense of purpose and community. Joyce's love for reading was another defining aspect of her life. She found comfort and joy in the pages of every book she read, often losing herself in captivating tales and inspiring biographies.

Joyce is survived by her loving children, Crystal Horton (Daniel) of Jefferson, Joe Johnson (Samantha Drew) of Hartsville, Lance Newman of South Carolina, Josh Newman (Kristin) of Camden, and Shane Newman (Amanda) of Camden; sister, Evelyn Talbert (David) of Hartsville; brother, Robert Isgett (Naomi) of Hartsville; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne Newman; and grandson, Chase Newman.

A service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Hartsville with burial to follow in Wateree Baptist Church Cemetery, in Camden. The family will receive friends on Friday 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
