John Edward Parnell

Mr. John Edward Parnell, 86, of Hartsville, went to be with The Lord on Tuesday morning, February 16th, 2021, while at home with his family.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 on Friday afternoon, February 19th, 2021, from Westview Cemetery with Reverend Ladell Humphries officiating.  The family will be speaking with friends following the service at the graveside.

A native and life-long resident of Hartsville, Mr. Parnell was son of the late Harold & Ruby Outlaw Parnell.  He was a retiree of Sonoco Products Company after 30+ years of service and a member of North Hartsville Baptist Church.

Surviving are his children: Michael Parnell, Darlene Hedgepeth, and Margaret (Kenny) Floyd all of Hartsville; grandchildren, Chad Johnson, and Brittany (Blake) Douglas; great-grandchildren, Mason David Douglas and Powers Lee Douglas; and a sister, Mary Ellen Griggs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Keith Parnell; and sisters, Dorothy Gardner, Jennie Johnson, and Shirley Moody.
