John Barker

Hartsville, S.C. Funeral services for John Edward Barker, age 80, who passed away August 27, will be held Thursday at 2:00 at the Forest Hills Independent Baptist Church. Rev. Jim Murray and Rev. John C. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Kelleytown Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Barker was born in Ashford, West Virginia, a son of the late Edgar Elliott & Hester Olive Kinder Barker. He was a member of the Forest Hills Independent Baptist Church, an Air Force Veteran,retired auto mechanic and loved antique cars. Surviving are his wife, Frances Oneal Barker, Hartsville; three sons, Lyle Edward (Brenda) Barker, Paden City, W. VA, Arthur Vernon Barker, Charlotte, Shawn Leeroy Barker, Charlotte; three daughters, Gail Marie (Dickie) Estep, Lancaster, Dayle Lynn (Jeff) Means, Charleston, W. VA, Angela Renee (Todd) Romano, Waxhaw, N.C.; one brother, LarryRay (Deanna) Barker, St. Albans, W. VA; four sisters, Loretta Peal, Columbus, Ohio, Madeline Adkins, New Martinsville, W. VA, Linda ( Phil) Thornton, Pinch, W. VA, Betty (Tommy)Canterbury, Charleston, W. VA; three step children, Johnny Richard (Marlene) Johnson, Hartsville, Jeffrey Thomas (Debbie) Johnson, Oates, Phyllis Edens, Charleston;24 grandchildren,12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Gloria Barker, one brother, Dennis Barker and one sister Margaret Bess.
