Jessie Purvis

Mrs. Jessie R. Purvis, 95, of Bishopville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, January 11^th, 2023, while at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center.

Her service will be conducted by the graveside of Evergreen Cemetery in Sumter at 11:00 on Saturday morning, January 14^th, 2023, with Reverend Rhonda Mooneyhan officiating.  The family will be receiving friends Friday evening, January 13^th, 2023, from 5-7 at Norton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Purvis was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Taylor & Minola Price Richardson.  She retired from Campbell Soup after 23 years of service.  At the age of 72, Jessie decided to go back to school and get her degree as a CNA.  She was a loving lady who enjoyed spending time with her family and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she attended until her health began to fail.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Russell (Sharon) Purvis of Manning and Sandra Hill of Sumter; special granddaughter Tomie Sue (Robert) Wolff of Bishopville; 9 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild, Emmie Kate Lawhon; sister, Nellie Avins of Florence; and a sister-in-law, Pat Richardson of Florence.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin Purvis; children, Howard Purvis and Kenny Purvis; and a brother, Donald Richardson.
