James Lloyd Crowe

February 5, 1929 — August 6, 2021

Hartsville, S.C.

James Lloyd Crowe went into the presence of our Lord Friday, August 6, 2021.

Mr. Crowe was born in Shawmut, AL to the late James (JC) and Ruby Williams Crowe.  He was a graduate of Auburn University and a US Army Veteran receiving an honorable discharge.    Mr. Crowe taught school for several years prior to beginning another career in various managerial positions in the textile business.

Mr. Crowe was especially proud of his prison ministry calling.  He worked hard and received his pilot’s license which enabled him to fly small planes.  Mr. Crowe was a member of the “Sons of the Confederacy” and a Mason.

Mr. Crowe was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church (which he loved): He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Emily Quinn Crowe (1973) and Patty Byrd Crowe (1982).  Mr. Crowe’s three children are Chris M. Crowe of Arlington VA, Dottye Palmer-Bishop (Kenny) of Chesnee, S.C. and preceded in death by a daughter Jamie C. Clapham; three grandchildren who are Lloyd Clapham (Joyce), Eleanor Young (David) and Dr. M. Jason Palmer (Elizabeth) and six great grandchildren; also preceded in death by his two sisters Juanita Thomas and his twin sister Joyce Crowe.

Due to the increase of Covid cases the family has reluctantly decided there will not be a memorial service.  A private family burial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to:
