Mr. James Albert Harding, Sr., 84, of Hartsville, passed away Friday morning, April 30th, 2021, while at home with his family.
A memorial service with full military honors provided by the United States Navy will be held at 11:00 on Saturday morning, May 8th, 2021, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Reverend Carl Hunsucker officiating. The family will be receiving friends following the service at the funeral home.
A native of Great Falls, South Carolina, Mr. Harding was a son of the late Elmer & Carrie Harding. James retired from the military after proudly serving our country for 23 years in the United States Navy. He later went to work with CP&L and following retirement from there, he began teaching at Florence-Darlington Technical College. James loved singing in choirs and teaching guitar; fishing was also a hobby he enjoyed. He involved himself for many years with the Hartsville Community Players at The Center Theatre. Of his many hobbies, being with his family was by far his favorite.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Jimmy (Dayle) Harding of Chicago, Illinois and Lynn (Harry) Harding of Conway; grandchildren: Caitlin Marie, James (Marcela) Lance Little, Carolynn Marie Little; great-grandchildren: Angel, Ayden, Jason, Lucas, Sara; and granddaughter-in-law, Chloe Little.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Arbutus Harding; grandson, Michael Little; and a brother, Otis Harding.
