BISHOPVILLE - A private graveside service will be held for Iris Jean May Brooks, 90, in Greenville Presbyterian Church. Donalds SC on February 20, 2021. Norton Funeral Home of Bishopville is assisting the family.
Mrs. Brooks passed away February 17, 2021. Born in Ware Shoals, SC on June 23, 1930, she was the daughter of Truman Henry and Iris Elliott May. An avid crafter and needleworker, in her later years she knit and donated hundreds of winter caps to “Come, Go with Us”, a mission in Zambia and Operation Christmas Child. She liked the outdoors, working side by side with her husband in their landscaping business. She also loved camping.
Surviving are her daughters, Iris Parnell Smith of Eastover, Ann Parnell Winfrey of Bishopville; four grandchildren, Gloria Hopkins (Barry), Jill McElveen (Will), Jennifer Rosen (Dan), Audrey Deck (William), sister Margaret May Fuller (Curtis) and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Brooks, sisters Dottie May Strawderman and Carolyn May Goodman. a daughter Margaret Nell Post and a granddaughter Trae Ann Smith McCaskill.
The family would like to thank Senior Primary Care, McCoy Nursing Center, Carolina Pines Medical Center, McLeod Hospice House, Rhonda Harris, Barbara Green-Grayson, Lillian Green and Lisa Whiteaker. They all contributed to her health and happiness in the last years of her earthly life.
