Hiram Jennings Lyles

As a family, it is with much sorrow that we announce the death of Hiram Jennings Lyles. Surrounded by family, he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 5, 2022.

His service will be conducted at 1:00 on Tuesday afternoon, November 8th, 2022, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Reverend Allen Lynch and Reverend Danny Holley officiating.  Burial will follow the service at 3:00 PM in Mt. Hope Cemetery of Florence.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  The family also welcomes friends to visit with them anytime at the residence, 542 Parkview Drive in Hartsville.

Born July 20, 1943 in Bethune, SC, to the late parents of John Amos (Jay) Lyles and Lina Pratt Lyles. Jennings worked with CSX Transportation in Florence for 33 years, was a member of St. Luke Methodist church, and attended Bethune High School. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Jennings is survived by his loving wife Judy H. Lyles of almost 36 years and his children: Justin Korey Lyles (Ashley) of Lexington, Joshua Lance Lyles (Kaitlin) of Lexington, Jordan Horton Lyles (Brei) of Lexington, Jody Clinton Lyles of Columbia, Jacob Preston Lyles of Hartsville, and Dawn Elaine Contino (Steve) of Rock Hill. Grandchildren: Harrison Lyles, Logan Lyles and Genna Contino. He is survived by one sister, Lina Ruth Gardner of Florence.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Jennings Lyles, his parents, and siblings: Ruby King, Kate Teal, Mary Lee Byrd, and Willie J (Bill).

Memorials may be made to Agapè Hospice at 301 Rainbow Dr Florence SC 29501. The Lyles family would like to extend a very special appreciation to the employees of Agapè Hospice.
