Hildreth (Hibby) Rowell Jeffords

Hartsville, S.C.

Hildreth "Hibby" Rowell Jeffords, 83, of Hartsville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a sudden illness. Born on February 20, 1943, in Marion, South Carolina, Hibby was the beloved daughter of Travis L. Rowell and Christine B. Rowell. 

Hibby dedicated her life to her family, friends, and community. She was known for her unwavering kindness, generous spirit, deep faith, wonderful sense of humor, and sweet nature. She had a gift for making others feel loved and welcomed, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched. She attended schools in Marion, South Carolina, and later attended Columbia College. Hibby devoted many years of service as a guidance secretary with the Darlington County School District.

 Hibby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Stevenson "Steve" Jeffords. She is survived by her loving children: William Darrin Gray (Joy), Kendall Gray Ward (Kevin), and MaryWill Gray. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" to her cherished grandchildren: Zane B. Linton, Cameron L. Ward, Carson F. Ward, and Kaia Grayce Johnson. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she often said they were her heart.

 Hibby was a beautiful woman who loved deeply, laughed freely, and gave generously. She will be missed every day, and her family feels truly blessed to have called her their mother, grandmother, and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm___ in the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville, South Carolina. Rev. Lin Kirkman will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Forever loved. Forever remembered.
