Henrietta Peavy Smith

Hartsville, SC

Henrietta Peavy Smith died on March 16, 2023 at her home, the last of her generation, having survived her parents, Benjamin Oliver and Janie (Roscoe) Peavy, a brother and 5 sisters. She was born in Lancaster, SC

Known to her family as 'mema', Henrietta was a master of talents; her culinary skills,  cooking everything from scratch are family legend and a seamstress teaching all of us to sew and her quilts are cherished heirlooms. She enjoyed spending time with her wonderful grandchildren, great grands, and great, great grands.

Devoted to her Bible and Jehovah, she was also the original 'Steel Magnolia' and
'Golden Girl'. She lived a long and prosperous life, on loan to us all for 95 years.

Henrietta is survived by son Charles Allen Smith (Sally) of Hartsville, daughter Peggy Smith Carroll (Lett) of Camden,  daughter in law Teresa Smith of Leavenworth, KS.and son in law Dan Askins Hartsville, SC.  She will eternally join her parents, siblings,  husband, Clifton, son Mark, daughter Cindy, and granddaughter Taylor.

Our family is thankful for Shari Carter, Jordan, Tiffany, and Agape for their love and constant care of our precious mema.

Visitation of Remembrance will be held Wednesday 5:00-7:00pm at Norton Funeral Home and Crematory.

                                                     Remember Me

Fill not your hearts with pain & sorrow, but remember me in every tomorrow.

Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles; I've only gone to rest a while.

Although my leaving causes pain & grief, my going has eased my hurt & given me relief.

So dry your eyes & remember me, not as I am now but as I used to be.

I will remember you all & look on with a smile, understand in your hearts, I've only gone to rest a while.

As long as I have the love of each of you, I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
