With great sadness, Mr. Billy McDonald announces the passing of his wife, Gayle McDonald, age 75.


Born November 13, 1950, to the late Clyde and Jessie Johnson, Gayle resided in Hartsville, SC. She dedicated 40 years to Kelleytown Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and worked in the nursery. She also spent 23 years as a benefits specialist at Sonoco Products until her retirement in 2012. More than anything, Gayle was a loving and devoted mother and “GG.”


She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Billy McDonald; daughter, Tara McDonald Steen of Hartsville; son, Scott McDonald (Alexis Dominguez) of Summerville; and her granddaughters, who were her pride and joy, Kari Steen and fiancé Erik Templar of Cassatt, and Emma Steen and fiancé Nate Cronic of Newnan, GA. Son in law, Jeff Steen of Hartsville. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Jeffords of Hartsville.


Gayle was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Johnson.


Graveside service will be held 11:00am Friday, December 26th at Kelleytown Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pastor Lin Kirkman will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home and Crematory.


In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for all proceeds to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
