Frances James Wilks

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Frances James Wilks.

Mrs. Wilks age 84 passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023  while in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC.

She was born in Hartsville, SC the daughter of the late Elbert and Sallie Coker James.  She was a God fearing women who loved her Lord and loved her family.  One of her favorite things to do was cook a delicious meal for her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sarah (Larry) O’Neal, Lexington, Archie (Betsy) Wilks, Jr. Marion, Cathy Sellers, Hartsville, Duncan Wilks, Hartsville, Rita Wilks, Lexington, Scott (Edith) Wilks, Wallace, Joy (Dale) Smith, Rockingham, NC; sibilings, Helen Mathis, Dovesville, Coker James, Hartsville, Teresa (James) Shaw, Hartsville, Ricky James, Hartsville; daughter in law, Leigh Ann Wilks; grandchildren, Shylonda, Shamra, Ree, Ed, Timothy, Shelby, Rex Alan, Amber, Brandi, Crystal, Alicia, Skye, Cindy Lynn, Jennifer, Mary, Rachel, Anna, Trey, many great grandchildren.

Preceded in death, her husband, Archie Neil Wilks, Sr., son, Rex Alan Wilks, Sr., son in law, Gerald Sellers, Siblings, Rosa Lee Fales, Charles James, Bennie Lou Teal, Voncille James, Carson James, Shirley Hodges and Ronnie James.

A celebration of her life will be held 11:00am Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.  Rev. Ervin Taylor will officiate.  Burial will be in Piney Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the serices at the funeral home.
