The following obituary is being posted by Norton Funeral Home as a courtesy to local family and friends of Mrs. Cassidy. All services have been entrusted to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield.

Hartsville, SC

Mrs. Florrie Crowley Cassidy, age 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, December 22, 2025, at her home with her family by her side. The graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2025 at the Darlington Memory Gardens, officiated by Agape Care Hospice Chaplain Daniel Poston. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home (1000 Lakeview Blvd., Hartsville, SC 29550).

Mrs. Cassidy was born on December 19, 1930, in Patrick, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late William Arthur and Mary Della Rayfield. She led a life filled with love and dedication, first as a devoted wife to her late husband, Mr. Hildreth Crowley, and later to Mr. Allen Cassidy. As a loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Cassidy cherished her family, expressing her affection through her passion for cooking and baking. She had a green thumb and delighted in tending to her beautiful flowers and maintaining her yard. Mrs. Cassidy also found joy in watching birds from her room and enjoyed taking bus trips. She had a particular fondness for the old hymns that resonated with her. A valued member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Mrs. Cassidy's faith and warmth touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her kindness, nurturing spirit, and the loving legacy she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cassidy was preceded in death by her first husband, Hildreth Crowley whom she was married to from 1947 until his death in 1993; siblings, Mandelean Watford, Elmore Rayfield, Annie Johnson, James Rayfield, Lucille Hudson, William Rayfield, Ford Rayfield, and Virginia Cameron; and son-in-law, Dennis Rhodes.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Cassidy of the home; daughters, Hilda Biggerstaff (son of the heart, Bruce Delaney) of Florence, SC; Theresa Rhodes of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Johnny (Lisa) Howle, April (Jimmy) Gainey, Whitney Yarborough, Daniel Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Tiffany (AJ) Howle, Zachary (Katie) Bradshaw, Coby (Sydney) Morgan, Gavin (Jordan) Gainey, Gracyn Howle, Ruby Richmond; in addition to numerous other grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Mary Jacobs, Rosa (Blease) Kelly, and Harvey Rayfield in addition to many nieces and nephews; including special niece, Sara Wells of Myrtle Beach, SC and special nephew, Mike Cassidy of Indian Trail, NC.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dana Hooks for being a special friend and caregiver to Mrs. Cassidy.
