Everett Holiday Sauls

Everett Holiday Sauls, a man whose life was marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and a gentle spirit, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 16, 2026. Born on February 7, 1952, in Kingstree, South Carolina.

From the earliest days of his working career, Everett embraced the skills and discipline of an electrician, mastering his craft with precision and care. His professional path evolved as he became the first building inspector in Darlington County, a role in which he established a legacy of integrity and diligence. His commitment to public safety continued as he served in code enforcement in Cheraw, ensuring that the community's structures stood firm and true.

Everett was more than his career; he was a man of varied interests and talents. His passion for motorcycles was well known, especially his fondness for his '69 Harley Davidson Sportster—a symbol of freedom and adventure that he cherished deeply. Moreover, he possessed a remarkable talent in leather crafting, an art that spoke to his creativity and fine skill.

Among the many treasured memories held by those who loved him, one story stands out with warmth and affection. Though not originally a cat person, Everett’s heart was unexpectedly captured by an orange kitten he took in out of compassion. This feline, named Sherbert, became a beloved companion, illustrating Everett’s capacity for unexpected kindness and love.

A devoted member of the Rivers of Living Water Church in Hartsville, South Carolina, Everett's faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him in both trials and triumphs.

Everett's family remains his enduring legacy. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 44 years, Ruby Gainey Sauls of Hartsville, whose partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. His son, James Daniel “J.D.” Sauls, also of Hartsville, carries forth his father’s spirit and values. His sister, Cathy Atkins (David) of Florence..

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Wilbert Sauls, Sr. and Mary-Ann Pierce Sauls, whose nurturing laid the foundation for his character, and his brother, Curtis Wilbert “Moose” Sauls, Jr., whose memory remains cherished.

A Visitation to honor Everett’s life will be held on June 19, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, followed immediately by the funeral service at 3:00 PM, both at Rivers of Living Water Church, located at 540 Pond Hollow Road in Hartsville, South Carolina.
