Elaine Kelley Reaves

It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Kelley Reaves announce her passing.  Ms. Reaves went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 18, 2024.  Elaine was born in Hartsville, SC a daughter of Dorothy Griggs Linton and the late Jim Frank Kelley Sr., one of eight children.

Left to cherish her memory is her only son, Rodney (Cyndi) Hopkins, Hartsville, SC.  Her grandchildren Joshua Hopkins, Jacob Hopkins, Washington D.C.; Jensen Hopkins (Noah Cohick), Johanna Hopkins, Ashleigh Briske (Jake Wint), and Daniel Briske, Hartsville, SC.  Her sister Gedelle (Dennis) Horton.  Her brothers Todd (Lisa) Kelley, Ray Kelley, Hartsville, SC; Bobby Kelley, Lisa (Bobby) Winburn. Her step mother Julia Kelley, Hartsville, SC.  Many, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that loving referred to her as Aunt Laine.

Those that knew Elaine loved her.  Her little body held a BIG personality.  She was always smiling, laughing, and joking around.  If you were visiting her, it was almost a given that wherever she was she had her hands in the dirt of some sort of plant or flower with one of her pups shadowing her every movement, this was her happy place.  She loved BIG and if you were family, friend, or an animal you knew this love well.  Whoever had the pleasure of meeting her instantly knew they met someone special as she had the most genuine interactions with everyone she met.  She possessed an infectious energy that instantly made you feel like all was right in the world.  Her generosity and kindness was unparalleled.  The middle of a party or gathering is where she was because she was the life of the party.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by brothers Frank Kelley Jr., Glenn (Buddy) Kelley, Travis Kelley, and David Mauldin.

The family wishes to send special thanks to Agape Hospice Care and the Staff at MUSC Florence Campas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Darlington County Humane Society.

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine to the mind.” – Luther Burbank
