Dorothy Heustess Gainey

Hartsville, S.C.

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Dorothy Heustess Gainey, age 80. Mrs. Gainey passed away October, 2026, while at her residence.

Mrs. Gainey was born in Patrick, a daughter of the late Johnny Heustess and Geneva Poston Heustess. She was a member of the Middendorf Church of The Living God. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Surviving are two daughters, Geneva (Jim) Johnson, Hartsville; and Ann Gainey, Hartsville; one son, Heyward (Blanche) Gainey, Hartsville; one sister, Hazel Gainey, Chester, SC; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde June Gainey, two daughters, Peggy Gainey and Marie Griggs; three brothers, Jimmy, Tom and Robert Heustess.
