Dorothy Rhea Stogner Amerson

Norton Funeral Home is honored to publish the obituary of Mrs. Amerson for local family and friends.

Dorothy Rhea Stogner Amerson, 58, of Lamar died November 25, 2022.

Rhea was born in Darlington County. She was the daughter of the late William Penrose and Dorothy Dixon Stogner. She graduated from Hartsville High School. She was employed at several of the local convenience stores prior to becoming disabled. She loved her family and she loved taking care of all of them, especially Gary, Sr.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 4 PM at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at a later date at Magnolia Cemetery in Darlington. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Survivors include her former husband and best friend, Gary Amerson; daughter, Ashley Amerson; step-sons, Gary Amerson, Jr. and Dan Amerson; step-daughter, Kim Pate; brother Billy Stogner and wife Susan; sister Carol Trull and husband Dean; grandchildren, Dawn Pugh, Starr Powell, Tabitha Durant, Tristan Amerson, and her favorite best most handsome grandson, Phillip Amerson and her #2 favorite best most handsome grandson Ryan Amerson, her good friend Willie Smith; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Stogner, Sr. and her nephew, Garrett Mahn.
