Doris Lederer Gardner,

born January 13th, 1932

Went to the Lord: June 20th, 2026

Sadly, our beloved Doris Gardner went to be with the Lord on June 20th, 2026 at the age of 94 due to difficulties associated with age. At the time of passing, Doris was surrounded by family by her bedside.

Doris, a loving wife, mother and friend warmed the hearts of a countless many, bringing her special light and friendship to all she met. Born in Philadelphia, PA to parents Walter and Sophie Lederer in 1932, Doris caught the eye of John (Jack) Gardner and were married soon after on February 17th, 1953.

Having moved to Ambler, PA. to start a family, the Lord brought four children into their lives, Susan, Robert, David and James. Having outgrown their home in Ambler, PA. the family moved to Bensalem, PA. in 1966. Having raised their four children to be successful and outgoing individuals, Doris and Jack became “empty nesters” and decided to retire to Florence, SC in April of 1986 to live out their twilight years. During these times, Doris was active in her love for her family, church and friends. Doris was preceded in passing by her husband Jack, who went to be with the Lord in February of 2015. Doris is survived by daughter Susan Freeman, and son’s Robert (Bob) and David (Dave) Gardner. She goes to heaven to be reunited with her husband Jack and son James (Jim).

Doris’ strength of faith was resolute. Always quick to give a comforting hug or a warm smile, she guided her family through good times and difficult times. She was a guiding and inspirational force to her daughter and sons throughout her life. Doris was an avid reader. She was a dangerous opponent for any trivia game having earned the respect of being full of all sorts of knowledge.

Doris will be interred with her husband Jack at the Florence National Memorial Gardens, located in Florence, SC. Date and time are TBD.

Norton Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Gardner family.
